Why Import with Code & Clutch?
Importing a car into Kenya can be confusing – taxes, clearance, hidden charges, and endless paperwork. At Code & Clutch Motors, we make the journey simple, transparent, and stress-free. From sourcing in Japan/UK/SA to shipping and KRA clearance, we walk with you every step.
Step 1: Car Sourcing

We help you find quality cars from Japan, UK, or South Africa. Every car is inspected for mileage, accident history, and condition. You choose from auctions, dealer stock, or private sellers.
Step 2: Shipping

Your car is shipped via RoRo or container, arriving in 28–40 days. We give you a Bill of Lading to track your car.
Step 3: Customs & Clearance (KRA QJ System)
KRA uses QJ (Current Retail Selling Price) to compute taxes – not your invoice. Taxes include Import Duty, Excise Duty, VAT, RDL, and IDF.
Example 1 – Toyota Axio 1500cc (QJ = 1,000,000 KSh)
- Import Duty: 250,000
- Excise Duty: 250,000
- VAT: 240,000
- RDL: 20,000
- IDF: 35,000 Total Taxes: 795,000
Final Landed Cost: 1,795,000
Example 2 – Toyota Harrier 2000cc (QJ = 2,500,000 KSh)
- Import Duty: 625,000
- Excise Duty: 625,000
- VAT: 600,000
- RDL: 50,000
- IDF: 87,500 Total Taxes: 1,987,500
Final Landed Cost: 4,487,500
Step 4: Delivery
After clearance, we deliver your car to Nairobi or anywhere in Kenya – fully registered, inspected, and ready to drive.
